YEREVAN. - Prices for Yerevan (Armenia)-Batumi (Georgia) train tickets will go up by AMD 2,000, Deputy General Director for the “South Caucasus Railways” CJSC Marat Khakov told reporters on Tuesday.

According to him, since Yerevan-Batumi is an international route, ticket prices are related directly to the currency of Swiss franc. As of May 17, 2011 Swiss franc is worth AMD 420.65 by exchange rate of Central Bank of Armenia against AMD 337.55 on May 17, 2010.

Last year price for tickets ranged from AMD 7,500 to AMD 24,000, depending on a carriage. According to Khakov, the new lowest price is AMD 9,000. Yerevan-Batumi maiden trip will be carried out on June 15.
