YEREVAN. – A total of AMD 42 billion was allocated to Armenia’s transport and communication field in 2010, 16 billion less than last year.

On the whole the budget was implemented on 92.8%, Armenian Transport and Communications Minister Manuk Vardanyan said in the parliament. Seventeen programs were implemented, resources were mainly allocated to repair and construction works. 350 km of roads were repaired and 132 km were constructed for AMD 17 billion granted by the German government.

The Minster touched upon activities of South Caucasus Railways stressing he is worried about some provisions of the concession agreement. Vardanyan expressed discontent with slow construction of Vandzor- Fioletovo railway section.

However, the Minister expressed satisfaction with investments in the railway field, noting that AMD 21 billion was invested instead of planned 14.2 billion.
