U.S. President Barack Obama nominated John A. Heffern for the post of US Ambassador to Armenia, the White House reports.

He assumed different posts in Malaysia, Japan, China and Indonesia. He is currently serving as Deputy Permanent Representative at the U.S. Mission to NATO.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, Marie L. Yovanovitch will complete her 3-year mission as U.S. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia in June 2011.

She will return to Washington and take up the post of Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Northern and Central Europe.
