The creation of historians’ sub-commission in the frames of Armenia-Turkey relations’ normalization aims at researching the events of 1915 by Turkey, President of Turkey Abdullah Gul stated, Turkish Haberturk website reports.

“If we raise these bygone questions now, it will make our future unbearable. Both Armenians and Turks suffered during World War I. We should not forget that millions of Turks from Caucasus, Balkans, and Central Asia migrated to Anatolia and part of them died on the way. Our objective is to have the matter investigated by historians and experts. We are ready to accept the decision of the joint historical commission. We agree for different professionals from various countries to be involved. If French historians wish to participate in the process, they may do so,” Abdullah Gul said.

The RA President Serzh Sargsyan has repeatedly stated that the Genocide issue would not be considered by the historians’ sub-commission.
