YEREVAN. – Armenia stands for peace and cooperation in the South Caucasus but regional neighbors not always share this view, said Arthur Baghdasaryan, Secretary of Armenia’s National Security Council.

Destructive approaches of Azerbaijan and Turkey to resolving existing problems inspire no hope and confidence that the region will develop in peace in the near future, he said at at a conference “Collective Security Treaty Organization and South Caucasus: prospects for regional peace and security” held in Yerevan.

Baghdasaryan recalled that one of Armenia’s priorities is establishment of regional peace which is hampered by approaches of the regional neighbors.

Speaking of Armenia-Russia cooperation, head of National Security Council recalled the agreement prolonging Russia’s military presence in Armenia signed last summer. An important political agreement furthers strengthening of republic’s security, he concluded.
