An Armenian turned himself into police on Tuesday after he allegedly struck his daughter’s boyfriend in the head with a pipe, Glendale News-Press reports referring to the local police.

Levon Hovanesyan, 63, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and mayhem.

The man who has recently moved to U.S. from Armenia told an Armenian police translator that he wanted to turn himself in because he thought he killed someone. He said that entered his daughter’s bedroom and struck her boyfriend’s head with a pipe.

Police reported boyfriend, Mauricio Buendia, 33, was taken to Glendale Memorial Hospital.

The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office had not filed charges against Hovanesyan yet, but police were investigating the case and planned to present charges, the newspaper writes.
