YEREVAN. - Passive Armenian diplomacy accounts for more Azerbaijani provocations, Major General Arkadi Ter-Tadevosyan (Commandos) told a press conference on Saturday.
According to him, Azerbaijani is lobbying Armenia’s “weak spots” actively in the international arena, while Yerevan does not keep up with Baku on the matter and fails to raise Azerbaijan’s aggression before the international community.
“Our diplomats should leave ‘trenches’ and initiate an active struggle,” he said stressing Yerevan fail to react to foreign politicians’ statements on Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity instead of demanding explanations from officials representatives accredited in Armenia.
“We should not live adhered to the principle of Leopold the Cat [Soviet cartoon character who asked everyone to live in peace]. We should fight for our rights,” he noted.
He also expressed discontent with improper military-patriotic education in Armenia, emphasizing the issue should be discussed at a state level. Commandos also stressed the necessity to accelerate the process of resettlement to Karabakh-controlled territories. According to him, there are many citizens who wish to be settled in Karabakh, but Armenia does not consider the issue.
