YEREVAN. - Armenia’s cooperation with CSTO does not hinder country’s partnership with NATO, said Lithuania’s Ambassador to Armenia Giedrius Apuokas.

The envoy stressed the coincidence of a number of activities in the two military political blocs and recalled that NATO contributes to implementation of reforms and building up of armed forces.

According to him, Armenia’s simultaneous membership in NATO and CSTO would be difficult to imagine, however “as it is known Armenia is not keen on NATO membership.”

“In its turn, the alliance does not set precondition to Yerevan,” the Ambassador told a press conference on Monday.

Apuokas noted that if Yerevan is interested in the experience of Lithuania, his country is ready to share it. In particular, the envoy stressed Lithuania’s experience in the European integration and NATO membership and added the alliance should keep its door open and discuss membership of new countries under certain circumstances.
