YEREVAN. – The Central Bank of Armenia (CBA) pursues policy of floating exchange rate but is more conservative when dram (AMD) becomes more expensive, said CBA President Arthur Javadyan.
Moreover, Javadyan noted they could not allow AMD to become “very strong”.
Thus, CBA expresses its readiness to act as a mediator under the two scenarios: in case of sharp fluctuations, and when AMD tends to strong rise in price.
According to head of the Central Bank, AMD tends to revaluation during summer months which suggests that CBA may purchase US dollar from stock exchange.
