The United States condemned the launching of ballistic missiles from North Korea, saying Pyongyang's nuclear and missile programs pose a serious threat to international peace and security, Voice of America reports.

North Korea announced that it had tested two newly developed new type of tactical guided missiles that accurately hit a target 600 km away from the launch site.

A State Department official called North Korea's nuclear and ballistic missile programs illegal and said Pyongyang's actions pose a serious threat to international peace and security and violate the global nuclear non-proliferation regime. The United States remains steadfast in its quest to defend its allies, South Korea and Japan.
