Union of Armenians in Russia celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2010, UAR President Ara Abramyan stated on October 16, 2009.

According to him, the union aims at preservation of Armenian language and traditions in Russia, as well as the enhancement of Armenians’ relations in both countries.

"Union of Armenians in Russia is the leader among Russian NGOs. Ten years were sufficient for us to have both feet on the floor and solve issues like the establishment of a National Council and proposals to the Russian legislatures, Ara Abramyan noted adding that presently there are over 400 Sunday schools and churches are being built in Russia.

Referring to the 10th anniversary of union, Abramyan said, “We invited tenders for different fields – cultural, educational and entertaining. We plan to visit orphanages, retirement and nursing homes. A special program is elaborated for the army as well.”

The celebrations of the union’s 10th anniversary will last from January to November, 2010. The tender participants will be awarded at the Kremlin closing ceremony with the participation of the Armenian and Russian Presidents.
