Militants of the Taliban, who have seized power in Afghanistan, opened fire on women who had organised a demonstration today in Kabul.

As Afghan Asvaka reports, the incident took place near the location of the hospital of the Italian humanitarian organisation Emergency. There were no reports of casualties or injuries.

TOLOnews earlier reported that a group of women held a protest in the Afghan capital demanding their rights and better living conditions.

"We are the voice of hungry people," the channel quoted the slogans of the women. Several dozen people take part in the demonstration, according to the circulated video.

The Taliban launched a massive operation to take control of Afghanistan after the US announced in the spring that it had decided to withdraw its armed forces from there. On 15 August, the Taliban entered Kabul without a fight and on 7 September announced the composition of their interim government, whose legitimacy has not yet been recognised by any country.
