The oldest pub in the UK has closed 1,229 years after it opened, according to LADBible. The establishment could not survive the COVID-19 pandemic.

A pub called Ye Olde Fighting Cocks was opened back in 793. Like many other businesses, the establishment has been hit hard by the coronavirus restrictions. Despite attempts by owner Hristo Tofalli to do everything to keep the place open, he failed to do so.

He was heartbroken, because the pub was not more than just a business for him. But he is even more offended by the employees who have become practically family members to him.
