Turkish side initiated a summit telephone conversation with the Russian side, October 19. President Abdullah Gul told his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev that Ankara has made all necessary steps (in accordance with the earlier reached agreements on high and highest level) to allow geological exploration in Black Sea exclusive economic zone of Turkey within the framework of South-Stream gas pipeline project, Kremlin press service informs.

Medvedev thanked Gul saying the decision will consolidate Russia-Turkey strategic partnership. The leaders discussed cooperation, within the framework of multilateral organizations, in topical issues of the world agenda.

Security in Caucasus was also in focus, Turkish media informs. Gul underlined that Russia is the key player in the region. Medvedev said Russia will continue to maintain peacemaking efforts.
