Czech natural gas transmission system operator Net4Gas said it recorded an overall reduction in gas transit, but supplies to the Czech Republic were not limited.

Leading gas importer Innogy Ceska Republika said that supplies were not reduced, while energy company CEZ said it had seen a decrease in a smaller portion of its supplies coming directly from Russia's Gazprom.

Russian gas supplies to Europe through the Nord Stream 1 pipeline declined Thursday after Gazprom said it was cutting capacity, though flows through Ukraine remained steady.

The second capacity cut is that Nord Stream 1 will operate at only 40 percent of capacity. Gazprom said the cuts were necessary because of the delayed return of equipment that had been sent out for repairs.

The Czech Republic receives nearly 100 percent of its natural gas supply from Russia, but most customers buy gas through foreign traders rather than directly from Gazprom.

"We are currently seeing an overall reduction in gas transit, but supplies to the Czech Republic are not limited," a Net4Gas spokesman told Reuters in response to questions.

CEZ said it had been informed by Gazprom of the reduction in supplies, but this only applied to a smaller portion of its purchases coming directly from Gazprom.
