Green, bright yellow and pink colors on city streets make people happier, quieter, more motivated and strengthen their morale, French scientists said after the experiments involving 36 people, The Guardian reported.
The volunteers walked around the lab wearing VR glasses. At first, they saw the urban landscape in the style of minimalism - concrete, glass and metal. Then the scientists changed the picture - there were greenery, bright colors all around and contrasting angular patterns on the sidewalks.
According to the volunteers' blink rate, the scientists determined which landscape they liked best. Then the study participants filled out questionnaires.
It turned out that when they saw the vegetation, the walking volunteers slowed down and their heart rate increased. Their heads were elevated - people were looking ahead and around, not at the ground.
The change in color didn't make much difference to the volunteers, but they were curious and alert when they saw the patterns in the paths.
