France must mobilize to prepare for a possible scenario of energy shortages this fall, French President Emmanuel Macron said, blaming Russia, which, in his words, "uses the reduction of supplies to Europe as a weapon in the war with Ukraine," Reuters reported.

Speaking in a TV interview marking France's national day, Macron said part of this mobilization involves cutting consumption by French consumers and businesses. "We need to prepare for a scenario where we have to do without Russian gas completely," he said.

He said he would soon present a detailed plan to limit energy consumption.
