YEREVAN. – A memorandum of understanding was signed on Thursday between the Armenian National Assembly’s (NA) delegation in Euronest and the National Platform of Armenia of Eastern Partnership’s Civil Society Forum. The memorandum was signed by NA delegation’s head Vahan Hovhannisyan and the Platform’s Coordinator Vache Kalashyan.

In his remarks, Hovhannisyan noted that Euronest Parliamentary Assembly does not yet have a precedent for such extensive cooperation with civil society.

In his turn, Kalashyan stated this memorandum will contribute to social consolidation and solidarity and will bring forth new ideas.

The memorandum lists five objectives: Reduction of corruption in governance; fight against limitations of civil liberties and rights; awareness of Armenia’s commitments before UE; spread of European values; and development of legislation pursuant to agreements signed, or to be signed, between Armenia and EU.
