YEREVAN. - European energy projects should not become sources breeding a new war, Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan stated during his joint press conference with France’s President Nicolas Sarkozy, in capital Yerevan on Friday, in response to a question whether Azerbaijan is using European projects for funding arms race.
“We respect and understand EU countries’ desire to secure energy safety and alternative energy sources, and we expect advertence toward our country’s security and regional stability,” the President noted, adding that everyone wants the materialization of European projects because cooperation could then play an important role in strengthening stability.
At the same time Armenian President underscored that these projects need to be implemented in such way that they secure the countries’ equal development, so that the results would serve peace, not war, and not become a source breeding a new war.
