Armenian and Azerbaijani delegations addressed First Committee of UN General Assembly in New York.

During deliberations in this Committee, which examines disarmament and international security issues, the Azerbaijani delegate tried to accuse the Armenian party of having eight more tanks than the actual number allowed by the 2001 Agreement on Conventional Arms in Europe.

Noting that the Azerbaijani delegation’s statement is clearly beyond the Committee’s agenda of the day, Armenian delegation’s representative pointed to Azerbaijan’s unsuccessful attempts to mislead the international community, adding that these attempts jeopardize regional security and stability and also bring to an impasse the mediators’ efforts toward resolving present conflicts in the region.

Azerbaijan’s disregard of different international organizations’ insistences that the snipers be removed from the line of contact and confidence building measures be initiated plus Azerbaijan’s militaristic policy conflict with the letter and spirit of international agreements and respective UN resolutions.
