An Armenian priest was defrocked for publishing condolence letter in Turkish press on death of Premier Erdogan’s mother.

Members of the council of Armenian Surb Khach church in Istanbul’s Uskyudar district decided to publish a condolence letter to Premier Erdogan on the occasion of his mother’s death, Turkey-based Armenian Agos newspaper reports.

The move was negatively perceived by Armenian Deputy Patriarch of Constantinople Aram Ateshyan.

Ateshyan defrocked the priest of Surb Khch church Koryun Fenerjyan for publishing a letter without holding consultations with patriarchate.
