Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office has instructed Israeli ministers not to comment on the death of Ismail Haniyeh, head of the political bureau of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas, reports The Jerusalem Post.

Members of the Knesset—the Israeli parliament—also have received a similar instruction.

Israel's minister for Jerusalem and heritage, Amichay Eliyahu, who had announced the possibility of dropping a nuclear bomb on Gaza in November 2023, had written as follows in a post attached to Haniyeh's photo on X: "The right way to clean the world from this filth."

"No more imaginary ‘peace’/surrender agreements, no more mercy for these sons of death. The iron hand that will strike them is the one that will bring quiet," had added Eliyahu, a member of National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir’s far-right Otzma Yehudit party.

Ismail Haniyeh was killed in an attack on his residence in the capital of Iran, Tehran. According to the statement of Hamas, the head of its political bureau was killed in an Israeli attack after he had attended the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian president.
