YEREVAN. – Ever since Armenia’s former National Assembly (NA) Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan’s dismissal, the positions of some in the ruling coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), specifically of those who were considered Abrahamyan’s team members, have weakened, Hraparak daily writes.
“For example, [RPA Parliamentary Faction leader] Galust Sahakyan’s [position has weakened]. ‘I cooperated with both [ruling coalition’s Rule of Law Party Chairman, National Security Council Secretary, and former NA Speaker] Arthur Baghdasaryan and afterwards with all NA Speakers because that is the nature of our work,’ Sahakyan said. And will [new NA Speaker} Samvel Nikoyan trust him as much as Abrahamyan had trusted him? ‘The parameters of my authorizations have no concern of trust by any Speaker, because the Speaker has his parameter of authorizations and the faction leader has his,’” Hraparak writes.
