The inaugural meeting of the working group for the coordination of necessary commitments and actions by the Armenian government toward the liberalization of the visa regime with the European Union (EU) was held in the government of Armenia—and under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan.

The participants discussed the main measures to be implemented by Armenia for the liberalization of the visa regime with the EU, the government of Armenia informs Armenian News-NEWS.am. Also, upon the instruction of the Deputy PM Grigoryan, the functions of the Armenian departments engaged in this working group were clarified, an the respective discussions with the EU—starting in November—were highlighted, which aim to define and develop the framework of the action plan for visa liberalization to be provided by the EU to Armenia.

The working group, in which the representatives of the executive and legislative power of Armenia participate, will work under the interdepartmental commission ensuring the implementation of Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA), and taking into account that the action plan to be drawn up will be a separate package of reforms provided for in CEPA and will be considered as a strategic agenda for modernization of migration, internal security, and border management.
