If the USSR had not collapsed, 320 million people would have lived there now, according to Sputnik Belarus.

The Soviet Union appeared on the world political map on December 30, 1922. It existed for about 69 years and comprised 15 independent republics.

The price of such a collapse is the severe demographic crisis that many of these republics are still experiencing. The population dropped by 30 percent in the three Baltic countries alone.

According to the presented statistical data, the population of Armenia decreased by 500 thousand (14.29%) ever since 1991 and reached 3 million in 2024.
