Azerbaijan will supply 1million m3 gas to Bulgaria in 2011-2012. The memorandum was signed within the framework of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Bulgaria, November 13, 2009, ITAR-TASS reports.

Azerbaijani gas will be supplied to Bulgaria via Georgia and Turkey, and thereafter by Nabucco. State gas companies will be engaged in the implementation of the program.

The memorandum signing increases the security of gas supply, the parties outlined.

“The signed bilateral agreements will improve Azerbaijani-Bulgarian relations. There will be new opportunities to supply gas not only to Bulgaria, but south-west Europe as well,” Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov stated at the briefing. He drew attention to the strategic significance of gas transportation to Bulgaria.

Executive Director of Bulgaria`s Bulgartransgaz company Ivan Drenovichki and Vice President of SOCAR Elshad Nasirov signed the bilateral memorandum, Azerbaijani azertag agency informs.
