Azerbaijan is monitoring radiation levels on its border with Iran, a source in the country’s state structures told RIA Novosti.

"Specialists have been deployed to the Astara region (on the border with the Islamic Republic of Iran). They have already begun monitoring air radiation levels. They are measuring radioactive contamination in the air and scanning vehicles entering Azerbaijan from Iran for radiation," the source said.

The move comes after Israel launched a large-scale military operation called "Rising Lion" on the night of June 13, targeting Iran’s military and nuclear facilities, including a major nuclear site in Natanz. According to IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, the above-ground portion of the facility, where Iran enriched uranium to 60%, was destroyed, along with its electrical infrastructure.
