November 21, 2009 a powerful blast killed three people and wounded 14 others, including children in south-eastern Moscow. The explosion occurred in a five-storied building not far from Kuzminki subway station. The investigation established that gas leaking caused the accident. Criminal proceedings were instituted.

According to RIA Novosti, several fire teams and RF local Emergency Situations Ministry rescuers arrived at the emergency site to extinguish the fire and evacuate the residents.
