The United States sought to sow chaos in Iran with the subsequent aim of dividing it into parts, Iranian Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani stated, according to state broadcaster IRIB.
"The enemy's strategy was to sow chaos in Iran in order to then easily divide the country into parts," he said. He noted that the first step of the US and Israel was to destroy Iran's administrative and governmental structure, adding that the US "does not know the Middle East."
"They thought they would carry out such an operation very quickly. Their second step was to prevent the delivery of basic goods to the population," he added.
The US also held negotiations with Kurdish tribes to direct them against Iranian authorities, but at the last moment "left them alone," Larijani said.
