Mourning week dedicated to 100th anniversary of massacres in Adana commenced in the Armenian Orthodox Church Cathedral in Antelias (Lebanon), Cilicia Catholicosate Communication and Information Department reports.
After the opening ceremony of khachkar, the photo-exhibition of crimes against Armenians in Adana inaugurated. “His Holiness Catholicos of Cilicia Aram I announced the publication and reprinting of documents on the tragedy in a special series. The first volume has just appeared. It is a reprint of the book, Cilician Tragedy, written by Souren Bartevian and published in Constantinople in 1909,” Catholicosate press release reads.
“As a result of massacres perpetrated in Adana 30 000 Armenians were killed, which was a presupposition for another tragedy-Armenian Genocide in 1915. We demand Turkey’s compensation for all — human and property losses,” said Aram I.
