December 2, 2009 at 3:40 Moscow time a major car accident occurred in Tulun city, Irkutsk region, Russia. The freight train collided with tank truck at Nyura railway station. The truck and two carriages burnt as a result, however the train did not derail, Vesti informs referring to Russian Emergency Situations Ministry. According to preliminary data, no victims and injured were reported. Accident causes are being clarified.
Presently, traffic on Trans-Siberian Railway is suspended.
