Armenia appreciates high U.S. efforts into establishment of peace, stability and settlement of issues in the region, RA President Serzh Sargsyan stated at Dec. 2 meeting with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia/Ukraine/Eurasia Celeste Wallander.

According to Wallander, the purpose of her visit is to get a better idea of Armenian defense priorities, RA Presidential Press office informed NEWS.am. U.S. puts high value on Armenia’s participation in different peacemaking missions, the diplomat said, adding that today she was hosted by RA armed forces’ peacekeeping brigade and was impressed by their capacity.

Sargsyan made a point of Armenia’s involvement in international peacekeeping activities and maintained it can contribute to the reinforcement of international security. The officials also exchanged views on regional developments as well as other issues.
