Cuba’s foreign ministry condemned the statements by President Donald Trump on “shithole countries”, RIA Novosti reported quoting a statement published in Granma newspaper.

The statement said Trump’s remarks are full of hatred and caused indignation of the Cuban people who are proud of the contribution of people and their descendants from different regions, especially Africans and Haitians.

Earlier El Salvador filed a note of protest over Trump’s statements.

The scandal broke out after President Donald Trump made comments during a meeting on immigration with lawmakers on Thursday. He asked why the US admits people from “shithole countries” or “shitholes,” according to an eyewitness and two people familiar with the meeting.

The White House did not deny that Trump made the remarks.
