Member of ARF Dashnaktsutyun Abraham Dedeyan is among 12 Lebanese ministers who handed in resignations on December 12. He has assumed his responsibility as Lebanon’s Industry Minister since 2009.
The Hezbollah ministers representing interests of Shiites resigned in protest against the UN tribunal investigation into assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. According to some information, the reason is the results of investigation will negatively affect Hezbollah movement.
Under the Lebanese constitution the cabinet is automatically dismissed in case three ministers resign. However, President Michel Suleiman asked incumbent Prime Minister Saad Hariri to continue work of the government until social-political crisis in the country is eased. Saad Hariri was informed of ministers’ resignations in Washington where he was meeting with President Barack Obama.
