The energy sector is a key integration direction of the Eurasian Economic Union.

Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Friday stated the aforementioned at the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC)—the executive body of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) which comprises Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. He noted this reflecting on the need for resolving several important and urgent issues within the EAEU.  

“In this context, it’s indispensable to work actively on the implementation of the projects for the formation of single oil, oil products’ and [natural] gas markets, as well as for the formation of a common electricity market,” he said, in particular. “It’s indispensable to intensify efforts that are aimed at the implementation of an agreed energy policy and the resolution of the sensitive issue of pricing—on a non-discriminatory basis—for energy resources, as well as their transit transport via territories of the [EAEU] member states.

“It’s indispensable to make efforts for the development and diversification of the Eurasian transport infrastructure.”
