The pre-trial measure for one of the three accused-on-trial under the case of death of serviceman Vahram Avagyan on January 30 has been commuted, as reported the Information and Public Relations Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

Delivering the accused-on-trial to command for supervision has been selected as a pre-trial measure.

In an interview with Armenian News-NEWS.am, Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan said there are three people detained under the case of serviceman Vahram Avagyan who died on January 30 in Artsakh and that one of the detainees is the son of former MP Arakel Movsisyan (Shmays).

As reported earlier, on January 30, 2020 at around 1:15 p.m. at the army training center of the Defense Army, compulsory fixed-term serviceman of N military unit, Private Vahram Avagyan, with an AKM rifle attached to him, fired gunshots in the chest area and was transferred to a military hospital with firearm injuries, and at 2 p.m. his biological death was pronounced. The first garrison investigation department has instituted a criminal case in relation to the incident, and preliminary investigation is underway.

Avagyan’s fellow servicemen Davit Movsisyan, Khachik Gasparyan and Spartak Avetisyan have been detained within the scope of the criminal case instituted in relation to the murder of the soldier.
