Iranian Consul General in Kapan Abedin Varamin, in an interview with journalists on Friday, expressed hope that Armenia would never need offensive weapons when asked whether Armenia had applied to Iran for the purchase of UAVs.

The diplomat particularly suggested addressing this issue to the defense ministries of the two countries.

Commenting on Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian's words on the undesirability of foreign presence in the region, Iranian Consul General once again forwarded the question, but this time to the Foreign Minister himself. Varamin did not rule out that the minister was referring to the possible military presence of third countries.

"We have always stressed that the countries of the region do not need the presence of foreign military forces," Varamin said.
