Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin warned about the consequences of involving the European Parliament and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in the settlement process in Nagorno-Karabakh, he said during a meeting with Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker Sahiba Gafarova.
According to him, the situation must be thoroughly thought over before calling on the European Parliament and PACE. "We need to answer: and in general, with the participation of the European Parliament, PACE any acute issue or conflict situation have been resolved?" explained Volodin, quoted by the website of the State Duma.
In his turn, the Duma Speaker warned against attempts to involve European structures, in particular, the European Parliament and PACE, in the solution of the situation in the region, reminding what their activities in Ukraine had led to. Vyacheslav Volodin stressed that the settlement of the conflict should be based on the agreement signed by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia.
"Let us proceed from the fact that there is a decision taken at the level of the heads of states - Azerbaijan, Armenia and the Russian Federation. We will be guided by it and from our side we will do everything to implement these agreements," said Vyacheslav Volodin. "And those who make statements in the direction of European institutions, can simply lose the country."
"Before you call for the European Parliament to be involved in the solution of certain issues, you should answer: were any acute issues or conflicts resolved with the participation of the European Parliament or the PACE? There is no example of this," said the Chairman of the State Duma. "Look at what happened in Ukraine and what statements were made by German Chancellor Merkel and then French President Hollande. As it turns out now, they fooled the whole world, they lied, they deceived, and they themselves were preparing for war."
"Where is Ukraine now? Today Ukrainians are expendable material, a country that is simply stuffed with weapons. A huge number of people die, statehood is lost, culture is lost, religion is trampled, the church is divided, the language offered is English - inter-ethnic communication. The result is a colony of the United States of America," said Vyacheslav Volodin.
"Just as the U.S. under the guise of goodwill and a desire to help reduced everything to the destruction of Yugoslavia. By the way, when a peaceful Belgrade was bombed, no European Parliament or PACE intervened in this situation," the Speaker of the State Duma reminded.
"Therefore, if we want to involve the European Parliament and PACE, we should think 10 times and weigh up what this may result in, using Ukraine, Yugoslavia and other countries as an example. Those who want peace, who want to settle the situation, must not just stay away from these quasi-parliaments - the PACE and European Parliament - but clearly understand that their involvement will aggravate the situation, will create more and more problems. And if they do this, they must bear responsibility for the consequences," stressed Vyacheslav Volodin.
