The National Intelligence Organization (NIO) of Turkey has eliminated a man in Syria, who was involved in the organization of a terrorist attack in Istanbul in November 2022, Haberturk TV channel reported, citing the press service of the agency.

The case concerns Halil Menci, who, according to intelligence agencies, played a key role in preparing the explosion that killed six people. The man was under the protection of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which Ankara considers a terrorist organization.

The operation, the MNR explained, took place in the Syrian border town of al-Qamishli. Other details have not yet been disclosed.
