Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Monday received the delegation led by Harris Georgiades, chairman of the interparliamentary committee on Cyprus-Armenia cooperation of the House of Representatives of Cyprus, the PM's office informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The premier welcomed the visit of this Cypriot parliamentary delegation to Armenia, and lauded the level of parliamentary cooperation and political dialogue between the two countries. Pashinyan emphasized the resolution adopted by the House of Representatives of Cyprus regarding the illegal blocking of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan, and thanked for the clear assessments.

Also, the Armenian PM stressed the implementation of measures towards the expansion of economic cooperation between Armenia and Cyprus, and noted that there is a great potential for cooperation in that domain as well.

In turn Georgiades condemned the implementation of the policy of ethnic cleansing by Azerbaijan against the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh, and emphasized the humanitarian assistance by the international community to the forcibly displaced population of Nagorno-Karabakh. Also, the chairman of the interparliamentary committee on Cyprus-Armenia cooperation stressed Cyprus' support for the protection of Armenia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

During the meeting, the processes taking place in the region were discussed as well.
