The European Union (EU) expects progress in the demarcation of the borders between Armenia and Azerbaijan, a senior EU source told reporters in Brussels, Sputnik Armenia reports.

As for border delimitation, a lot of work has been done in the past months, and, ideally, they would like to reach an agreement on future steps on what basis the border delimitation will proceed, with what maps and principles, the source added.

He confirmed that the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev, will attend the European Political Community summit in Granada.

There were active contacts last week, and they are exploring whether it is possible to move forward despite the difficult situation on the ground, the source noted, and recalled that in the past it became possible to achieve mutual recognition of territorial integrity.
