Andrey Kovatchev, a Member of the European Parliament, has emphasized the need for the European Union (EU) to provide Armenia with an ambitious cooperation plan. In a post on his X (former Twitter) microblog, he argued that the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh demonstrates that Moscow has lost control over its near abroad.
Kovatchev believes that this presents an opportunity for the EU to extend strong support to democratically elected authorities in Armenia and help the country reduce its dependence on Russia.
“We owe strong support to their democratically elected authorities and ambition to reduce dependency on Russia,” he wrote.
