Foreign tourists spend an average of about $1,200 per visit in Armenia. Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan announced this during the debates on the package of bills on tourism at Monday’s regular meeting of the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs of the National Assembly of Armenia..

According to him, the aforesaid are the data obtained as a result of survey among tourists.

The economy minister, however, did not say the average duration of these visits.

"From those 1,200 dollars, the [Armenian state] budget receives about 110 dollars from one person. It is 44 thousand drams at the current exchange rate; that is, in 2023 we can expect an inflow of about 100 billion drams," said Kerobyan.

In his opinion, a considerable increase—of up to 2.5 million—in the number of foreign tourists is expected in Armenia by 2026.

"Not completely in 2023, the [Armenian] republic has already come close to that indicator," added the economy minister.
