Famous French pop star Sylvie Vartan for the first openly spoke about her Armenian roots.

During a show broadcasted on French television, Vartan said: “Yes, I’m Armenian, from my father’s side,” Nouvelle d`Armenie reported.

Sylvie Vartan was born in Bulgaria on August 15, 1944 to Hungarian mother and father Armenian-Bulgarian father. The original family name was Vartanian.

Sylvie started her career in show business when she was 16 and is known as one of the first rock girls of France. She was married to famous rocker Johnny Hallyday.
