“We have allocated 1 billion drams to host the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17) in Armenia,” Finance Minister Vahe Hovhannisyan announced during the debates on the 2026 state budget draft of Armenia at the joint meeting of the standing committees of the National Assembly on Friday.
However, as the minister noted, hosting this event will require considerably more funds.
“This amount is in the reserve fund, and we will make these allocations over the course of one year, once all details are clear,” Hovhannisyan said.
COP17 will be held in Armenia from October 18 to 30, 2026.
