YEREVAN. – The situation at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border was tense throughout the night; the Azerbaijanis fired intense shots along the border.
The Armenian defense minister’s press secretary Artsrun Hovhannisyan confirmed the aforementioned information to Armenian News-NEWS.am.
He noted, however, that there are no casualties or injuries from the Armenian side.
“The shots increased ten times last night. They know that we will punish [them]; that is why they continually fired all through the night,” Hovhannisyan added.
Earlier, the diversionary teams of the adversary had attempted to carry out a simultaneous infiltration at the line of contact between the Karabakh-Azerbaijani opposing forces.
The attempts were recorded at around between 11:50pm on Sunday and 12:15am on Monday, in the northeastern (Jraberd) and the southeastern (Korgan) directions of the line of contact.
As a result of the ensuing skirmish, Junior Sergeant Armen Hovhannisyan was killed at the military position located in the northeastern direction, and from the gunshot wound he sustained from the adversary.
