The annual 29th conference of the American-Turkish Council is held in Washington. U.S. policy on Turkey, Turkic world, including Eurasia and Caucasus, as well as U.S.-Turkey relations are being discussed.

Conference titled “Achieving Common Objectives” will last till October 20, Turkish press reported. According to council’s president James Holmes, the conference is usually held in spring but this year it was postponed due to discussions on the Armenian Genocide Resolution in the U.S. Congress.

The Armenian Genocide and its discussion in U.S., new direction and traditional course of the American-Turkish relations, trade, U.S.- EU dialogue, Cyprus and other issues are on the agenda.

Renowned U.S. and Turkish experts, high ranking officials, including U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, Turkish Ministers Ali Babacan and Zafer Caglayan will deliver speeches at the conference.
