Today Iran’s prosecutor threatened that protestors involved in the Monday rallies will carry tough punishment. However, the number of arrested is not clarified yet.
Iranian ILNA news agency quoted Iranian Prosecutor General Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei as saying, “If any individual acts in violation of security of people and the country, he will not be overlooked. Tough action will be taken against him.”
On Monday annual state-organized demonstration held in commemoration of three students killed in anti-American protest turned into clashes between the protesters and security forces. Opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi supported the demonstrations. Earlier, Iranian government also blocked internet in the country and banned foreign media from participation in the rally.
