YEREVAN. – Armenian MP Manvel Grigoryan’s son, Karen Grigoryan, was reelected as City of Etchmiadzin Mayor during Sunday’s local self-government elections. 

The Central Electoral Commission’s website has posted the preliminary results, according to which 14,435 from the city’s 43,138 eligible voters had cast their ballots.   

As a result, mayoral candidates Armine Hovhannisyan and Karen Grigoryan received 1,057 and 12,468 votes correspondingly. And 808 ballots were declared invalid.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, a total of 479,625 from the 968,643 eligible voters, or 49.52 percent, cast their ballots during Sunday’s local self-government elections in Armenia. 

These elections were held in the country’s 481 communities, specifically in Ararat, Armavir, Lori, Shirak, and Syunik regions. As a result, community leaders were elected in 379 communities and council of elders’ members were voted for in 454 communities.
