YEREVAN. – If former FM and Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) current MP Vartan Oskanian’s guilt is not proved, initiators of the criminal case will have to provide explanations, Parliament Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan said after the voting on petition to involve Oskanian as a defendant in money laundering criminal case.
According to him, the President wants to know the truth and Abrahamyan does not believe that the case will end badly. Moreover, Abrahamyan personally will apologize to Oskanian if his innocence is proved but he “has no idea how the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) will act.”
As for the PAP leader Gagik Tsarukyan’s absences from the hearings on Oskanian’s case, Speaker said it is Tsarukyan’s own business.
To note, Armenia’s Parliament approved on Tuesday the petition submitted by the Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan requesting to involve Oskanian in the criminal case as a defendant. However, the opposition parties did not participate in the vote.
